Pilot Testing of Communication Messages on Voters Education

The Pakistan Centre for Development Communication’ (PCD) organized twelve focus group discussions in collaboration with country’s leading advertising agency M/S Orientm McCANN Pakistan.  Around 130 people participated in these FGDs in four cities. The objective was to gather qualitative and quantitative responses from participants, on various aspects of 25 communication messages, developed under DFID-funded campaign for voters’ education and mobilization.

PCDC conducted two-day ‘Strategic Planning Workshop’ for Sahil in Islamabad. Sahil is among the most respected child-rights organization in Pakistan with several offices. During the two days of intense brainstorming, group work, presentations and analysis – enthusiastic participants from all regions of the country looked at the past, present and future of the organization. From vision, mission and values to projects, strategies and capabilities – everything came under discussion. Sahil has a young and highly motivated team that was full of innovative ideas. 

Peace communication is an art that require special skills and understanding. That’s why we have developed these two beautiful posters with passion and care – to promote interfaith harmony among communities.  The publications are part of a series of ‘Information, Education and Communication’ (IEC) materials that we have developed under a project funded by ‘United States Institute for Peace’ (USIP), being implemented in district Rawalpindi

We have recently developed a series of IEC materials for DFID-funded, Research and Advocacy Fund (RAF) project in Chitral, being implemented by the Aga Khan Foundation (Pakistan).Ten colourful standees and four flyers have been developed for this Mother and Child Health (MNCH) project.

PCDC facilitated the first-ever ‘Training of Trainers’ (ToT) on ‘Interfaith Harmony and Role of Police’ at the largest police training institution in Pakistan, the Police Training College, Sihala.

PCDC facilitated two training workshops on ‘How to Raise Voice for More Citizen’s Participation in Local Governance’ for NGOs in Rawlakot and Muzaffarabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The workshops were organized by ‘Women Welfare Organization of Poonch’ (WWOP) in collaboration with Conciliation Resources-London. 

We had a wonderful two-hours workshop on ‘Leadership and Communication Skills’, at the ‘International Young Alumni Conference’ in Islamabad. More than 500 youth leaders participated in the conference that was organized by the ‘Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network’

Information is oxygen to democracy. To enhance public support for early passage and implementation of the Right to Information (RTI) Act in Sind, we are supporting the largest and oldest journalist association in Pakistan – the ‘Council of Pakistan Newspapers Editors‘ (CPNE). It is the biggest representative platform of professional editors and journalists from print and electronic media that was established in 1957. The 500+-member organization is a registered, voluntary, nonprofit body with the mission to promote and protect human rights particularly right to access information and expression.Hence, at Pakistan Centre for Development Communication (PCDC), we believe that it is about time for civil society organizations and media to come together and demand for more access to information.

PCDC facilitated a full-day training workshop for general body members of the ‘Pakistan Coalition for Education’ (PCE) in Islamabad. Discussion during the workshop helped participants to understand that effective communication within coalitions doesn’t just happen by itself.

PCDC facilitated a brainstorming session on ‘Strategic Planning’ at the headquarters of ‘Human Appeal International’ (HAI) in Islamabad. HAI is among the largest charitable organizations in the world, now present in 23 countries and providing services to thousands of communities affected by disaster and chronic poverty. In Pakistan, HAI started its operation in 2002. Following the 2005 earthquake, the organization expanded its activities to emergencies, early relief, and rehabilitation in the country.
